What Are Some Underrated Movies Set in Casinos?

The setting of a movie is incredibly important when it comes to how successful that movie is. The setting plays a massive role in the situation that the characters find themselves in and in mapping out the different ways that they can deal with said situation. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to a good setting for a movie. It’s part of the equation but doesn’t sum up the whole thing. You also need a good script, a good cast, and good direction as well. A popular setting that a lot of filmmakers have used in the past is a casino. Some movies set in casinos are incredibly popular, such as Ocean’s Eleven. However, some fly under the radar but are still incredibly good films. This article is going to dive into more detail about some underrated movies which are set in a casino.

Why Does the Casino Setting Work?

There are a few reasons as to why the casino setting of a movie works incredibly well but one of the most notable is how much of a prevalent factor casinos are in some people’s lives. Gambling at casinos and playing on different online casinos, like Crazy Vegas, which is one of the top online casinos for Australians, is very popular and, as such, people can identify with this movie location. That identity is very important given people want to be able to see themselves in the films that they enjoy.

Underrated Films

So, what are some of the underrated films set in casinos? They include but aren’t limited to:

Vegas Vacation

Okay, you might not think this is a good film, but don’t be too hasty, as it’s a lot of fun, incredibly chaotic, and light-hearted. It follows Clark Griswold, an incredibly bad gambler in a world that seems to be completely turned against him. It is also a lot of fun, thanks to the strangely surreal elements found in a film which is quite cemented in the real world. One of the main instances of this can be seen in the pick a number scene. The idea that such a game would ever exist is ridiculous, and yet you’re quick to believe it in the setting of the movie.

Casino

Robert De Niro is in this movie. That’s all you need to know. Okay, maybe not everything, but it should be a big driving factor when it comes to convincing you to give it a watch. He is a gangster who runs a mobbed casino that is trying to do things in a dignified way whilst constantly being undermined by the others that he works with. It’s an unpredictable and exciting movie, which is worth a watch.

The Color of Money

This film was so good that it saw Paul Newman get nominated for an Oscar, and yet, it’s not one that people tend to talk about as much. It’s a fantastic film that will keep you on the edge of your seat with every passing second.
