Shaun of the Dead
Another breath of fresh air in the horror genre was Shaun of the Dead. Comedy-horror hadn’t really been done well before the release of Shaun of the Dead. The 2004 release was a massive success worldwide. It perfectly blended horror with comedy as it is considered one of the best horror movies of all time. Director Edgar Wright only had a budget of $6.1 million to make the film. It would go on to make $30 million in the box office. Not to mention it completely laid down the blueprint of comedy horror. The film’s title was originally a nod to horror film Dawn of the Dead, but due to its success it has eclipsed its inspiration’s title.
